
INGREDIENTS
WOW Baking Company Chocolate Cupcakes (baked and cooled according to Chocolate Cake Mix directions)
Caramel Buttercream Frosting
1 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup whole milk
2 1/2 - 3 cups powdered sugar
Caramel sauce
Maldon sea salt flakes
DIRECTIONS
1) In a medium saucepan combine the brown sugar, butter and milk.
2) Stir and cook over low heat until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is well combined. Once the butter is completely melted, set a timer and continuously stir for 1 minute.
3) Increase the heat to medium and do not stir. Cook the mixture for 3 minutes. Bubbles will form on the surface and the mixture will have an amber color.
4) Remove from heat and transfer to a glass mixing bowl. Let cool for a few minutes to thicken.
5) With a hand mixer, gradually beat in powdered sugar about 1/2 cup at a time. If the icing gets too thick, add a little splash of milk to bring to the desired consistency.
6) Fill a piping bag with frosting and decorate cupcakes with a swirl. 7) Drizzle with caramel sauce and sprinkle with Maldon sea salt.
